A Victoria Park Mast threat

A planning application has been made for a 30m high telecoms mast to be built in the park.

It would sit on our old curling pond next to the Curling Club Pavilion in the north east corner of the park.

If permission is granted it will destroy the curling pond and overshadow the last remaining pavilion in the park. We will lose forever, a precious piece of park heritage.

Why Object?

• The mast proposal is contrary to the City Plan and the City's own environmental policy.

• The mast will be a hugely dominant intrusion and will conflict with the scale of the neighbouring listed pavilion and property.

• The mast will alter the character of the park in this area which is part of a designated landscape.

• The mast will have a major impact on a listed building and its curtilage. It will destroy the relationship between the curling pavilion and its pond.

• The mast will negatively impact on the natural environment and will eventually result in the loss or damage to established mature trees.

• The erection of a mast here creates a precedent for industrial development within designated Glasgow landscapes: Botanic Gardens, Kelvingrove Park, the Necropolis and Pollock Park.

Objections must be with the planning department by 24th July 2026.
