Thanks, Shaun. Thanks, Jamie.
Thornwood seems to be covered in graffiti. If it is on GCC assets such as street bins or road signs it is worth reporting through the app or their online portal at https://iportal.itouchvision.com/icustomer/ If it is on a bus stop then it can be reported by sending an email to Infrastructure@spt.co.uk In both cases it is helpful to send a picture. It sometimes takes a couple of weeks but it does usually eventually go. Unfortunately, if it is on private property the council can't do anything unless it is offensive and then they can instruct the property owner to have it removed.
The police have alerted us to the fact that there has been a noticeable increase in the number of people coming into our area to sell illegal drugs. The police rely on intelligence from the community. If you become aware of this or have any concerns ring the police on 101 or use their online reporting form.
They also alerted us to the fact that counterfeit £20 notes are being passed in the area. Check carefully, especially around the clear window.
It has been a long wait but as of today, Wed 3rd June, the play park is back open. Thank you to those who helped make this happen.
We can all spot the irony of installing tactile paving to assist the visually impaired and then leaving it until it becomes a dangerous trip hazard. There are at least three such areas needing attention in Thornwood. We first reported this last summer and were told it would be remedied within that financial year. It wasn't. We followed this up and was told the three areas would be fixed within 60 working days (12 weeks). That was up this week. All that has happened is that the two worst slabs have been removed and replaced with asphalt. We're still chasing this.
Another quick fix in Sandy Road.
We all know the roads are needing lots of repairs so it was good to see some in Thornwood being dealt with. These repairs do look a somewhat temporary but, hopefully, they will last for some time. Crawford Street has been patched multiple times. We've asked for it to be resurfaced properly but it probably won't happen in this financial year.
Some good news. We've been waiting nearly a year so it's joyous to see work starting on our play park. This comes down to the local Area Partnership and the Neighbourhood Infrastructure Improvement Fund making the money available. Thank you.
Update Monday 11th May: When asked about a completion date the team working in the park said, "Three weeks".

Third time lucky?
We've been trying for six months to get this trip hazard repaired. Fingers crossed this repair will last longer than the last one.
If you have been reading the updates on Love Thornwood you will know that Jamie and Shaun have been out and about making our community more presentable. A big thank you to you both.
Thornwood Community Council would like to thank the Community Policing Team and their colleagues for the work they do in keeping us safe.
These broken bollards in Beith Street have been reported multiple times. The first report was submitted at least 18 months ago. Last year we were wrongly told they had been fixed. Now, at last, the trip hazards have been removed and the new bollards are being installed. Thank you.
Thornwood Community Council would like to thank the Area Partnership for funding some small improvements to the school play area. Paint for some of the structures and fresh sand for the sand pit.
Are you interested in joining Thornwood Community Council and helping us to make a difference. We currently have three vacancies. You will find more details here.
It is frustrating that there are so many blocked drains so soon after they were all meant to be cleared. We are trying to get it sorted.
We reported this light as not working in November, chased it in January, and in February we were told it would be sorted by 'late spring'. Well, now, a little ahead of time, the light has just be sorted. Thanks GCC. It's appreciated.
Good news. Along with our elected councillors we've been pushing to get our play park fixed. We have now been told that the new play equipment is on order and they anticipate installation will take place in late April. This will also include the replacement of the play surface.
We reported the sinkhole on the footpath in Maule Drive. Someone then made a botched repair. GCC say they have no record of anyone attending but have now told us it will be repaired by the first week of March.
UPDATE 22nd April: It has finally been repaired.
This street light on Dumbarton Road has been out for some time. It has been reported. The latest is that the cause is a cable fault and will be repaired soon.
UPDATE 6th March: The light is back on.
Recently there has been a lot of traffic management materials left across the area. With the help of our elected representatives we got it cleared away.
Thornwood Community Council would like to give a shout out to Glasgow City Council’s Parks and Green Space Team for their outstanding work in revitalising an area of long-neglected land at the bottom of Broomhill Drive. We are seeking ways to develop this area further.
We have had some success getting Virgin Media to either repair or replace their broken cable boxes. Six, so far. These before and after pictures are from Kildonnan Drive and Exeter Drive.
If you want to report a broken Virgin Media box you can do so on this Virgin Media Community Forum (registration required).
White lines have been appearing on corners around Thornwood. Since last January it has been an offence to parked at dropped kerbs and cars are being ticketed. Most dropped kerbs in Thornwood are at the corners. We asked for markings to make things clearer for drivers.
This sinkhole has been cordoned off for weeks. Nothing seems to be getting done. We've reported it and we have our elected representatives chasing things.
UPDATE DEC: Now sorted
We reported this road sign and the Glasgow roads team cleaned it. Thanks GCC, we appreciate it.
We reported the graffiti on the bin and GCC's graffiti team removed it. If only we could do something about the vape stickers.
Thornwood Community Green is now a registered charity.
